Bone Augmentation
Bone augmentation services are offered if you are considering a dental implant but your jawbone does not have enough support for a successful procedure.
Digital x-rays will show the team if there is inadequate bone volume. Your dentist can often increase the bone quantity by a variety of procedures.
What does a bone augmentation procedure involve?
Bone augmentation can include grafting (adding) bone or other materials to the required area.
The area will then take several months to recover and fuse with your existing jawbone. Once the area is healed your dentist can then place the implants in your mouth.
Gum Grafting
Our office offers gum grafts procedures for our patients that are considering restoring receding gums by solidifying the area around the teeth.
This surgical procedure thickens gums and may be essential in defending your teeth from the effects of gum recession. Gum grafting can also improve the appearance of your smile.
What can I expect during the gum grafting procedure?
Depending on your level of gum recession, it can take 1-2 hours, during which your mouth will be completely frozen.
After the procedure you may receive over-the-counter pain medication. It may take a few weeks for your mouth to fully recover, however, you should be able to return to normal activities the day after surgery.
Sinus Lifts
At Bay Dental Group, we will perform sinus lifts for patients that need extra bone added to the upper jays in the molar and premolar areas. This surgical procedure is done to replace lost bone in the upper jaw, usually between the molars.
